Balls

From the rule book:

Each club shall have a supply of unpunctured, regulation tennis balls (any color). Subject to the size and comfort of the dog, squash balls, racket balls or approved balls may be used. Approved balls must function similar to a tennis ball, i.e. they must bounce and roll.

Soft Balls

All balls should be frequently squeezed and soft balls should be trashed - the "throw" is inconsistent.

Others

  • stop watches (2 - identical)

  • 8 pipe insulators (for padding)

16 - uprights
8 - 7" boards
8 - 4" boards
8 - 3" boards
8 - 2" boards
16 - 1" boards
extra 1" boards

Suggested Stacking

the top board should always be a 1" board (for the safety of the dog)

8" = 7 + 1
9" = 7 + 1 + 1
10" = 7 + 2 + 1
11" = 7 + 3 + 1 (better: 7 + 2 + 1 + 1)
12" = 7 + 4 + 1 (better: 7 + 3 + 1 + 1)
13" = 7 + 4 + 1 + 1
14" = 7 + 4 + 2 + 1 (better: 7 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1)
15" = 7 + 4 + 3 + 1 (better: 7 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 1)
16" = 7 + 4 + 3 + 1 + 1

Elbow Catch

Ives model SP2A3. Retail is $2.19 each. You can also order it from a local True Value store... item number is 510024, and it is an aluminum catch with a brass finish. Try to find the older steel catch if you can. The aluminum catch will wear prematurely and must be constantly monitored.
Some teams are now using the basic design and getting machined steel copies.

Other Devices

A new item which shows great potential is a machined piston-like device (similar to a pin-ball launcher) called the Launcher.Dan Phillips (Quick Silver) has made "The Launcher"

One team is using magnets as the catching mechanism.
