1. Coach for a particular team (ie Team C)
Responsibilities:

  • determines the running order
  • makes sure everyone on the team is present one race before the actual race
  • indicates the dogs running to the line judge
  • looks after the team

2. Boxloader
Responsibilities:

  • makes sure that the box gets inspected before racing begins
  • makes sure that the box is functioning properly
  • has the box and balls ready one race before the actual race
  • places the box in the correct lane (right or left)
  • knows which dogs take the balls from what hole
  • has extra balls available in case of a red flag(s)
  • doesn't move from the box until the referee signals the end of the heat
  • wipes the balls after each heat (if possible)

3. Ball Picker
Responsibilities:

  • makes sure that an empty bucket is available
  • picks up balls
  • quickly returns the bucket to the boxloader

4. Timers (requires 2 people - dog 1 and 3, dog 2 and 4)
Responsibilities:

  • takes a split time on each dog running
  • verifies the win/loss and time on the master scorecard
  • returns the clipboard and watch to the designated spot in the team area

5. Exchange person (can be the team captain)
Responsibilities:

  • indicates to the handler how much room was available on each exchange
  • at the end of the heat, tells each handler where to position themselves for the next heat
  • records the final position for release of each handler (for the next race)

6. Flag person
Responsibilities:

  • indicates to the handler if the opposing team got a flag
  • indicates to the handler if they got a flag and must re-run

7. start-timer person (not absolutely necessary)
Responsibilities:

  • watches the official electronic timer on the judges table
  • tells the start dog handler - the time difference between the green light and when their dog broke the beam.

8. video person (not absolutely necessary)
Responsibilities:

  • videos the exchanges
  • in certain situations, videos the box
  • doesn't video a complete run for a particular dog
