Rave On
Rave was turned into a Louisiana shelter at the age of 4 months, along with her two sisters. All three puppies were brought into Border Collie Rescue Texas and Rave was transported to Austin to be fostered by one of our other team members. I was immediately taken by her looks, I can't resist those prick ears! Although she was scared, I could see a spark in her. I thought she was my kind of Border Collie. When I started fostering Rave, I soon found out she had some fear issues, mainly noises, like kids playing, lawn mowers, crowds and boat motors. I knew I could help her get past her fears but didn't think I'd ever get her confident enough to be in a noisy flyball tournament. I decided to just continue to foster her, work with her and adopt her into another home. Well, the spark I had seen earlier was still there and with just a little bit of work and confidence building, this little one came out of her shell. She's now a vibrant, agile and fast girl and the one place that she especially feels confident at is flyball. She absolutely loves it and it shows in her performance and the expression on her face. So obviously, I had to adopt her. Rave has turned in to a wonderful flyball competitor and she is probably the most rewarding dog I have ever trained because she overcame so many obstacles.
