Tournament News

Infurno sent 3 teams to All Dogs Gym for a total of 27 races over the weekend. We were busy, just the way we like it!

Rapid Fire , our Regular team of Sobe, Folly, Token, Indy/Tex, was seeded last in Division 1 and came away with a 2 nd place. With a 3/3 format, the ‘placement points' were based on heats rather than races. So even though we won 7 of the 9 races, we were just a bit shy of winning enough actual heats to take First Place. Rapid Fire earned 565 points per spot, and had a ‘best time' of 17.79 .

Fired Up , our other Regular team of Dandy, Benny, Macy, Cheyenne & Kit, was seeded 4 th out of 5 teams in Division 3. With a 3/5 format, the actual races won was what earned placement points. Losing the first two races was a rough start…but Fired Up finally got in sync and rallied to race to a 2 nd place finish! Fired Up exceeded its seed time of 22.0 with a best time of 20.6, and earned 462 points per spot. This team included some very green dogs as well as an 11 year old veteran (Benny!), so this was a great showing for Infurno.

Wild Fire , our Multi Division 1 team of Token/Folly, Bailey, Q, and Tex/Indy, won 7 of their 10 races, with a best time of 18.99. Again with the 3/3 format, the actual number of heats won is what counted, and we finished in 2 nd place, earning 501 points per spot.

The highlight of the weekend was the great showing by Junior Handler Jessica Deutsch. Not only was she invited to help run Kira, the sheltie, on the NASDOG team, but she also got to race her own dog Kit on our Fired Up team, and they did awesome! She was awarded a Junior Handler pin to commemorate her debut. Jessica may be only 7 years old, and a tiny thing to boot, but she proved that she can run with the big dogs!

Some individual accomplishments:

* Val Whiterock & Vortex, a/k/a Tex finished his FM while racing with Rapid Fire.

* Erin Cahill & Macy earned their FDCH with Fired Up.

* Linda Husson & Dandy earned their FDCH with Fired Up and also achieved a new personal best time of 3.996.

* Jessica Deutsch & Kit earned their FD & FDX!!!

Special thanks to boxloaders Theresa Deutsch, Erin Cahill and Dave Hoyt.
