We were a little short-handed this tournament...... perhaps due to it being Mother's Day weekend?!? We entered only one JDD team, Pawzest. As we were debuting one new start dog, Lily, and our other new start dog, Schemer, had only raced once before, and had purposely made wide passes in her first tournament debut last month, we were conservative (overly) and submitted a seed time of 20.0. That put us in the very competitive Regular 2 division. Our seed time was the slowest of all the other R2 teams .........Ouch! Our Pawzest team ran the following line-ups:
The new height dogs ran great! Unfortunately the timing lights were not working so we could not tell what times they were running. They were doing well though, as the total Pawzest team times were generally in the 20's or low 21's (manually timed). On our one run with Taz as height dog we even had a couple of sub 20 second heats. However, we were running against some really tough competition in Fur Fun and JumpMasters' R2 teams and we never had much of a chance at 1st or 2nd place. We did eke out a third place finish in the division by winning our third race (3 heats to 2) against a very good Pioneer Valley Waggin' Tails team. For the tournament we won 2 races against PVWT and they won one..... in some very exciting racing. If their height dog hadn't been in a collision in the first race and didn't have to be pulled for the tournament, things may have been very different. She seemed OK, and was checked by a local Vet. We certainly hope (and expect) she is feeling better and back on the lanes next tournament. Did you know the Pioneer Valley dogs are so tought they feed them porcupines? No kidding! The following JDD dogs earned titles this weekend:
The Long Island Road Rage team helped us (and a bunch of other teams) out ......again, as we were just a bit short-handed human-wise. They were great! ....... thanks Road Ragers! The tournament was terrific, thanks to a perfect weather weekend! NETB sure knows how to run a tournament. Even with a major snafu with the timing equipment being on the blink, the racing ran flawlessly. ....and whoever they gave the food stand concession to made the best burgers we've had in a long time. Thanks NETB, as Gov Arnold would say "We'll be back!"
