Bear

Picture of Bear Bear is a Mixed breed owned by Marsha Gale of Allsorts Dogsports. Bear received the Onyx Award on Aug 10, 1996.

Bear was a year old when he was adopted from the Winnipeg Humane Society. He was a family pet who quickly learned some basic American Sign Language (ASL) signs & and a few typical dog tricks, and then went on to obedience training. After excelling at obedience, he was introduced to flyball at 5 years of age.

His Border colleagues still know him as The "Brown Dog," who ran in the 4½ second range on 14" jumps. For several years he ran on the Allsorts A team and always on the Allsorts #1 Multi-breed Team. In addition to a box loader, the team always designated a "Bear catcher" as he was known to run into washrooms, over baby gating or out through doors on his return for the 2nd tennis ball.

Although Bear officially retired from Flyball after achieveing his Onyx in 1996, he continues to be active by doing recreational sledding along with our other dogs.

Bear has earned a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title; & has begun a movie career with parts in "For those who Hunt the Wounded Down" (1996) & "The Adventures of Shirly Holmes"

Always an integral part of our busy household of kids, cats and fish, Bear continues to be a TOP DOG !!!
