2006 Kelsey is my
3rd flyball dog. I met her when she was in a rescue in Canada as a
young puppy. She was adopted by a woman when she was a 3 month old
puppy, but returned at 9 months old because she couldn't handle her
energy level. Then a wonderful gentleman adopted her, and got her
involved in flyball of which she absolutely loves and ran on a team
there a several months. When he wasn't able to care for her needs any
longer due to his health, he was looking for a flyball or performance
home for her. A couple people saw her on the flyball list and contacted
me. I was in contact with the man within days, and made arrangements
for her to come to the states. Ironically, she's a rescue dog needing a
permanent home, and I'm GSP Rescue, it was fate that she come live with
me. Shawn brought Kelsey home from a Canadian tournament, May of 2006,
it was love at first sight for both of us, although she LOVES Shawn too
and looks for her at the tournaments. For a long time Shawn had to hide
so Kelsey would run at the tournaments and not so sure that she would
run now if she knew Shawn was there.
What a blessing Kelsey is, full of life and then some. She doesn't have the prettiest box, but she gets the job done. Kelsey has picked up some of the slack where Junior left off. She's so much like Junior, it's scary. It's extremely hard to say that she's my new service dog, she's still learning new things, but doing well. Kelsey is quit the frogger too. |
As nominated by

opportunity to honor you for taking responsibility for and saving many dogs
you did not bring into this world.
Kim Schultz
2007 Rescue Dream Team Member
German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue
You are the person who is responsible for cleaning up the aftermath of
irresponsible, negligent and ignorant breeders who care more about greed than
the breed.
Your are the person that, even though you think you are beyond what you can
bare, have to save one more life from the kill shelter or abusive home.
Your are the person that takes on the responsibility of humanely ending a life
too far gone.
You drive hours and hundreds of miles to transport a dog for the hope of a new
life and beginning.
You unselfishly donate your time, home, car, money, and emotions for the love
of the purebred or mixed breed dog.
You are the person all the unwanted and unloved dogs on this earth will be
waiting for at the Rainbow Bridge so they can happily cross over and feel no
more pain.
We recognize and honor you this 5th Day of August, 2007
at the Junkyard Dogs Flyball Run for Rescue Tournament
