Penny was about 8 weeks old when she was found on the side of busy street by someone who took her to a nearby vet. One of the vet employees knows my PA teammate, Kim Schultz, who does German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue. Kim brought her to a tournament at Chelsea for someone to look at her and maybe adopt. They never showed up, fortunately for us. I was smitten. I went home and told my husband, Gary, that I had found a dog for him. He wasn't extremely enthusiastic, but he agreed to look at her and once he did, he was ready to adopt her.

My other dog, Ollie, was not nearly as happy to have Penny come into the family. But he got used to her eventually. I started training her in flyball. She learned pretty quickly, but she doesn't have the passion for it that Ollie did. Oh well. At least she will play with me - especially if the incentive is hot dogs.

Penny is easy going and she loves to play - with the ball, with her Frisbee, with her stuffed animals. She's very obedient and eager to please. That's why we call her "Perfect Penny".
