My husband, Mike, and I became involved in flyball after adopting our first Australian Shepherd, Chelsea, who proceeded to tear up many parts of our house after we brought her home! Knowing that we had to do something with this intelligent, active dog, we began flyball. Mike always ran Chelsea, while I box-loaded, shagged balls, kept times, etc. The two of them had so much fun that I decided I wanted to run a dog. Our second Aussie, Cubby, became a therapy dog after he showed us that his only interest was in being petted! Along came our third Aussie, Gracie, from South Texas Aussie Rescue. She was fast, agile, easy to train. She and I have a lot of fun running, although never as successfully as Mike and Chelsea. Gracie has just never caught on to the competitive aspect of the game! Mike and I and our dogs love flyball, the good friends we've made, and the excitement of the tournaments. I especially love to watch the bond that owners have made with their pups, and the great fun they have together!
