Welcome to the wonderful world of Flyball. We are the Waverunners, sponsored by Gold Coast Dog Club, and we have been training since early 1997 and competing since August 1998. Florida has been an official Flyball state since 1998, and we are one of the four original teams along with Palm City Punchers from Fort Myers, Florida AirXpress from Lakeland and Ketch This from Tampa. A new club member came into town at the end of 1996 and convinced the other members of Gold Coast Dog Club that Flyball was a great thing to add to the Club’s repertoire. Flyball equipment was purchased (boy, you should have seen that old used one-hole box we started on!) and the first Introduction to Flyball class started in March 1997. Two members are still active from that first class - Bill Sander and Stacy Santarone. Waverunners began hosting tournaments in Fall 2000. Our first road trip to an out- of-state tournaments was to Birmingham, Alabama in December 2000 and we’ve continued to travel out-of-state ever since. We have helped teams form in Melbourne and Miami. We’d love to have you join us, whether for fun or if you’re interested in competing, or we can teach you the ropes to form your own team. You don't have to want to compete to join us, you just need a desire to have fun with your dog. It is a great exercise outlet (both for you and your dog). But, of course, if you want to compete and earn titles for your dog, while having fun, that would be great too. We are always looking for new members for fun or competition. All breeds of dogs including all-Americans are welcome. Please check the "classes" page for upcoming beginner classes.
