Cajun was the #122 scoring dog for NAFA's FY 2005 with 6311 points earned during the year at the time of her death.
Cajun joined our club as a cute, cuddly little fur ball, at the age of 7 weeks. She made friends with her new teammates, and played with them at practices for several months. She began her formal flyball training and was ready to run in a tournament as soon as she turned 1 year of age.
Cajun began her racing career at the Pawsitive Attitudes Tournament in Chelsea, MI on July 24, 2004. She ran part time on both our A Team and our (Multibreed) 1 Team. That was the only part time duty in her career. She quickly became our fastest, and one of our most solid height dogs, moving our fastest combination of dogs from a good division 2 team to a one that could compete in division 1.
She became the regular height dog on our A Team the next month, and was the difference maker, as they went from having run only two 16 seconds heats in our club's history to one that would average in the 16's for an entire weekend.
As our fastest height dog, Cajun became a valuable addition to our Multibreed 1 Team as well. It was her inclusion on this team that allowed us to break into the 16 seconds club with that team as well.
As her A Team partners could not always come to all of the tournaments that we entered, Cajun got to help her other teammates and run on the B Team three times. While doing this, she was the height dog that pushed our B Team into the 16 seconds club on May 29, 2005. Little did we know that this would be the last time that Cajun would run with her teammates in a tourney.
After a much too short life and a career of only 16 tournaments in length, Cajun suddenly, and unexpectedly, left to join her flyball buddies that are awaiting us at the rainbow bridge, on the morning of June 4, 2005 - as she was getting ready to join us at another flyball tournament. She suffered a massive seizure and died just hours before she was to have run as our A Team's height dog at the Spring Loaded Tournament in Chelsea - a tourney that we completed with heavy hearts in Cajun's memory.
More than just our fastest height dog, Cajun was one of the friendliest, sweetest dogs that we have ever had the joy of knowing. She was a fierce competitor on the flyball course. Still, at the tender age of less than two years, she had shown a talent for mentoring the 'new kids' on her team, and had just begun helping some of them learn how to run with others on the course.
We were all shocked to learn of Cajun's passing. We hardly had the time to enjoy her company, and are really going to miss her. May she enjoy a peaceful sleep.
