Classes
The Beltway Bandits occasionally offer Flyball training classes for novice dogs and handlers. The objective of the Beltway Bandits Flyball training curriculum is for dogs and their owners to have fun while learning to play Flyball on an individual basis. Over the course of the training period, dogs are taught how to properly perform a Flyball run using positive, motivational training techniques, and owners are familiarized with proper handling techniques and the fundamentals
of Flyball. Each class is divided between individual work with the beginning dogs/handlers, and competition team practice. In this way, the team members are able to assist in the training
curriculum and the novice handlers are able to learn the application of the techniques being taught in class. The ultimate goal of the Beltway Bandits Flyball training program is to
develop dogs and handlers that are able to compete reliably and to the best of their ability as part of a cohesive Flyball team.
No prior Flyball experience is required to sign-up for a training class,
although having a ball-crazy dog is a major plus. All dogs
desiring to participate in a Beltway Bandits Flyball training
class should be well socialized and come when called by their
owner. Furthermore, all dogs must be current in their
vaccinations and a minimum of six months old for small dogs
(e.g., Jack Russell Terriers) or nine months old in the case of
large dogs (e.g., Labrador Retrievers)
New students are taken on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please contact Whitney McKim by e-mail at
