Dogs
We are constantly training 'new dogs,' ones that have not yet learned the game. We hope to maintain a continuing influx of new dogs, as they provide us with a valuable renewable resource. These dogs are the 'fresh legs' soon to be coming to our various tournament teams.
Having these new dogs completing their training programs at different times provides us with a continuing refreshment of our teams' compositions. They allow the teams to run at tourneys at a regular pace --- regardless of the mix of dogs available to them --- while giving the 'older' dogs on those teams a chance to rest a bit as they approach the ends of their careers.
Adding the new dogs to our teams at differing times gives the veterans running on them the chance to continue participating in tournaments for as long as they can safely do it. At the same time, the newer dogs gain valuable experience running with the older, veteran dogs.
The new dogs are supported by their older mentors, and the older dogs are supported by the younger legs of their new teammates. In this way, we hope to keep our tournament teams running at virtually the same paces, or improving upon them, from year to year.
We enjoy participating in the continuing training process of these new dogs, and look forward to seeing more and more of them discover the joy of playing this great game. There is really nothing like the feeling that you get when you see that youngster's 'light go on' as it really gets the idea of what the game is all about. It really makes everything that you had to go through getting them to that point more than well worth the effort!
Here are the dogs that are currently training with us to become our flyball stars of the future.
