The Queen City Road Runner Mission
- Our purpose is to enhance the handler and dog relationship through working together
towards a common goal.
- Our purpose is to build and maintain a cohesive team that works together to compete
to the best of its ability.
- Our purpose is to promote dog sports, especially flyball, within our community.
- Our purpose is to promote responsible companion pet ownership, and to assist the
local pet charities and rescues in their efforts.
Queen City Road Runner Beginnings
- The Queen City Road Runners is a not for profit dog training club formed in August
2007 with a mission of providing a fun and safe environment for dog sport enthusiasts.
The club owners, Deborah and Elias Yoder believe strongly in rescue, and many club
members share their homes with dogs in need.
- The club specializes in the sport of flyball. Deborah and Eli first learned of the
sport after working with the ASPCA in the animal rescue efforts following Hurricane
Katrina in New Orleans. They adopted Katie, a Labrador retriever, who was approximately
4 – 5 months of age when the disaster hit. Katie presented with many fear/social
issues to overcome. Using her love for the tennis ball, they soon learned the value
of fun and positive experiences to help her become the beloved pet and canine competitor
she is today.
- Thanks also to all the friendly competitors we have met and played flyball with.
Each has contributed to the enjoyment and knowledge of flyball!
