Our Teams

Great Balls of Fire - Regular Division

Our regular division team "Great Balls of Fire" consists of six dogs of any breed registered to our team through NAFA. We will generally put together a team of four "core" dogs who will run pretty much every race. Added to these will be one experienced dog as a backup and one novice or "green" dog that will run during warmups to gain experience and confidence. Our regular lineup usually consists of Tar, Bosco, Murphy, and Oscar as the height dog. Our backup dog for this team will usually be Hannah and the "green" dog will be whoever needs exeperience and can make it to the tournament. There are no restrictions in this division and initail placement in the tournament is determined by seed time and number of entries.

Crash and Burn - Multibreed Division

Our multibreed team "Crash and Burn" has about the same format as the regular team except that the four dogs running in any given race MUST be all different breeds. According to NAFA rules, a mix counts as a breed so only one mixed breed dog may run in any one race. A normal lineup for our multibreed team might be Tar (Lab), Jack (Border Collie), and Bosco (Mix) with Captain (JRT) as the height dog. The alternates here can be a little tricky because we have to keep the multibreed rules in mind. Dylan (Gordon Setter) and Gracie (Beagle) could work for this team.

Open Flame - Open Division

NAFA's Open division goes by the same rules as the regular divsion except that all the dogs on the team don't have to be registered to our club. This opens the door to all sorts of combinations including "dream teams" which can inlude the very best dogs from our team as well as from other teams. This division has become so popular that lately tournaments are getting nearly as many entries for the open division as for the regular division. We have been running our open team "Open Flame" with just dogs from our team in the recent past but plan to include other teams dogs in the future. A few of our dogs have run on other club's open teams. Our usual lineup for the open division is Hannah, Jack, Dani, and CJ as the height dog with Belle and Dottie as alternates.

Afterburners - Veterans Division

Although our veterans division team "Afterburners" has yet to compete in a tournament, we are planning to run them in the near future. Similar to the open division, the dogs on a veterans team don't all have to belong to the same club. The restriction is that all dogs have to be at least seven years old. The jump height is moved to the lowest setting (7 inches) and no height dog is required. There are no flase starts in this division either. Veterans division is really great for dogs who may be a little too "long in the tooth" to be running in any of the other divisions but still need a few points to finish up their titles. Dogs in the veterans division may not run in any other division at a given tournament. As our team ages we find we have no shortage of dogs eligible for veterans racing. An "all GBF" lineup for our vets team might be Willow, ,Oscar, CJ, and Shadow.

And its not always just flyball!
